Generally, the two most valuable additions, or any work done to your home are to a kitchen or bathroom. Those two areas always add enormous value to any home.

Extra living space - larger, airier rooms, for example, will also add to the value, though not as much as the kitchens and bathrooms.

Extra garage space, patios or covered gazebos are always good, but generally give more value to the present owner rather than actual resale value.
